ScoutPal Bookmarking Bulletin
Please disregard this bulletin if you are not having any
problems with ScoutPal on your phone...
If you have had browser errors, please change your login bookmark to:
http://wap.scoutpal.com/sprint
Or:
http://wzp.scoutpal.com
(Note the "wzp" part of the 2nd URL, instead of "wap" or "www".
You can also add an automatic login sequence at the end, e.g. "/?yourid-yourpassword",
as described on the How to Bookmark page.)
Sprint (and other carriers that actually depend on the Sprint network) recently
made modifications to their web services for certain phones, including older
Samsung and LG models. The change involves "transcoding" WAP web pages
using OpenWeb. Late-model phones do not have this issue. Depending
on how long you have been with Sprint, you may be eligible for a deeply discounted
(or free) new, fast, and more modern phone that will not have this issue.
As a consequence of Sprint's change, they have broken scripting
support for field-clearing. The wzp login bookmark above will suppress this
scripting. So you may need to manually clear out the ISBN field when
you go to enter the next one, depending on your phone. There is usually a
simple way to clear an entry field with just a couple of key presses. The
actual buttons to push will vary from phone to phone, so you may need to experiment
to find the keys to do this. For example on many Samsung phones, press
a number key or the OK key to begin editing the ISBN field, then press and
momentarily hold the "BACK" key to clear the field out.
Since scripting is a fundamental part of cell phone WAP browser support, it
is to be expected that Sprint will repair the field-clearing functionality
soon. ScoutPal will continue to monitor Sprint's progress in these repairs,
and we will restore the ISBN-clear script as soon as we can confirm that Sprint
supports it again.
