SMS and Email Lookup
The ScoutPal SMS Email Lookup Service is an optional way of retrieving
search results. Please
contact ScoutPal for further information
if you are new to ScoutPal and wish to signup for SMS services only.
To setup for ScoutPal SMS use, you will enter your phone's SMS mail address in
the SMS form after you have signed up for ScoutPal. (Additional
instructions can be found when you login to ScoutPal.)
You can use the
ScoutPal SMS service with any kind of email program, as long as the
email address is properly specified. Your SMS mail reply address MUST be
specified in
the short form "xxxx@yyy.com". (i.e. NOT "myname@myhost.com
<myname@myhost.com>")
To use ScoutPal SMS, you will simply send an email to the SMS service address
(included with your subscription), with the ISBN(s) in the subject line,
and ScoutPal will mail full results back. An alternate SMS service
address is available that returns just the lowest price and total number
of offerings for all conditions.
Please be aware that internet mail services by their very nature are
subject to significant delays between mail servers. Also be sure to
carefully check your cellular plan for SMS fees. Although there may be
an exception with your carrier, cellular plans from Cingular, T-Mobile,
Verizon, Nextel and Sprint all charge for SMS messages, both your lookup
request, and the server results that get sent back to you. If your phone
is web-capable, the standard ScoutPal cell phone web (WAP) service is recommended,
as it will return results much faster, due to the delays inherent in email and text
messaging services.
