Click to print the ROV Programming Codes, then scan
them to:
-
Stop supplemental bar codes (see
*illustration below) from being included with
ISBN (EAN-13) book scans.
-
Turn the scanner's "good read" beep on or off. (DO
NOT disable the beep off until you are certain that you have learned how
to reliably scan. With the beep off, you will not know if a scan is
successful or not. You must always pay attention to your search results
to be that they are for the correct ISBN.)
- Restore the scanner to its Factory Defaults.
- Factory Defaults will require that you again scan disable supplementals,
and set the beep state back to your preference.
- You will need to scan Factory Defaults whenever you switch between
using the scanner with a computer and mobile device.
- Before using a ROV USB cable in KBD Mode, you will also need to scan
in the special codes printed on page 14 of the USB Cable's quick start
guide: "delay is 500" and "(STX) is False." If you
have lost your copy of the guide, it can be downloaded from the manufacturer's
website: microvision.com
Notes:
If you can't view or print the codes, you may need to first
install an Adobe PDF reader program.

* What are Supplemental codes?
Books and other media typically have a supplemental barcode printed to
the right of their EAN-13 barcode. This barcode is only useful to the publisher
(it typically represents their MSRP), and cannot be used for any listing and
searching purposes. By default, the ROV scanner will include the supplemental
code with the EAN-13 scan if you are not careful to prevent the scan beam from crossing
over into it, or if you have not
disabled supplementals. Here is an example of an EAN-13 barcode image with a smaller
5-digit supplemental barcode (52995) printed to the right of it:
AutoISBN, and
ScoutPalSE users do not need to disable supplemental
codes, but it's ok if they do. It will slightly speed up the scan transmission
rate, and it will free up some scanner memory when the scanner is used in
batch (portable) mode.
