 Bluetooth PDA/phone Internet Dialup Connection Steps Specific to Pairing an iPaq 210 PDA with a Motorola i335 Cell Phone:

  • On the iPaq 210 PDA:
    • Tap Start / Settings / Connections / Bluetooth
    • Turn on Bluetooth if it's not already ON
    • Tap the Bluetooth Manager link at bottom of screen
    • Tap the Active Connections tab
    • Tap New, it's on the bottom left
    • Tap Connect to Internet via phone
    • On the Step 1 screen, leave phone selection as unknown
    • Tap Next to get to the Step 2 screen
  • On the i335 phone:
    • [MenuKey] / (scroll to Bluetooth)-[OK]
    • Setup-[OK] / Power-[OK] / On-[OK] / [Back]
    • Find Me-[OK]
    • This will put the phone in Discoverable mode for 60 seconds. (If you need more time just do Find Me-[OK] again.)
  • Back on the PDA:
    • It should still be on the Step 2 screen.
    • Tap Next
    • Wait for a picture of your phone to appear
    • Tap the picture of the phone
    • Tap in a passkey number of your own choice, for example 1234
    • Dismiss the on-screen keyboard
    • Tap Next
  • Back on the phone
    • The phone asks you "Bond with [your phone's name]?"
    • [YES]
    • Type in the same passkey that you entered previously on the PDA
    • [OK]
  • Back on the PDA:
    • New Connnection... is highlighted, tap Next
    • Tap Finish
    • Tap the My Shortcuts tab
    • Tap and hold on the phone picture, or double-tap to Connect
    • Tap New Connection...
    • Tap OK in the upper-right
    • Enter a descriptive name for the Connection, for example "i335"
    • Enter s=2 for the Phone number, leave everything else blank
    • Tap OK (upper-right corner of screen)
    • Your phone will ask you to approve the connection, press [OK]
    • Leave everything blank on the PDA's Network Log On screen
    • Tap OK
 
You can now use the internet on your Pocket PC!
  • Tap Start / Internet Explorer.  Browse to any website you wish.
  • Setup your ScoutPalDB program to have an additional "Fetch" (real-time full ScoutPal lookup) option:
    • Start ScoutPalDB
    • Tap "settings" on the bottom of the screen.
    • Scroll down on the ScoutPalDB settings screen and enter your ScoutPal login ID and password
    • Tap OK
    • The Seek screen will now have an additional "Fetch" button

At any time, you may return to the PDA's Bluetooth manager and tap and hold on the connection shortcut to disconnect/reconnect.
